What is Agentic AI?
Agentic AI describes systems that can plan and take actions toward a goal with some degree of autonomy. An agentic system may break work into steps, select tools, observe results, adapt its plan, and involve a person when confidence, permissions, or business risk require human judgment.
Why does Agentic AI matter?
It expands AI from content generation into workflows, but it also increases the importance of scope, governance, monitoring, and accountability.
How does Agentic AI work?
Match autonomy to risk: automate reversible, observable actions first and require approval for material customer, financial, legal, or brand decisions.
Autonomy should rise with observability—not ambition
- Low risk: draft, classify, summarize, and recommend.
- Moderate risk: create or update internal work with logging and review.
- High risk: customer-facing, financial, legal, security, or brand actions require explicit permissions and human approval.
